Bluegrass Blondies Bios

Scott Amos--- Scott began his entertainment career in 1st grade, as a class clown, sacrificing honor, dignity and respect for the entertainment of others. This experience inevitably prepared him for the role as a banjo player. Now, a 28 year veteran of the performing arts, Scott's resume includes performing with the Country Bluegrass Express (1985 - 1987), String Fever (1987-1991), a 20 year stint as the banjoist and MC for Bluegrass Addiction (1991-2011), 25 years as bassist/guitarist for the Glen Klyn Dance Band (1985-2010), as well as current projects as banjoist and consultant for The Bluegrass Blondies AKA The Amos Family Band (2008 - current), and Rhythm/Lead Guitarist for the newly formed Raydio Flyer bluegrass band.   As a promoter of Bluegrass and Acoustic Music, Scott is active in providing consulting services to acoustic music promoters/music events,  as well as  instructing guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, bass, and vocal training to interested beginners across Southeast Iowa. Dawn Amos --  Dawn Amos, the literal "producer" of the Bluegrass Blondies, taught second grade at Douma Elementary school for 20 years, currently teaching at Liberty Elementary. She is an awesome cook, seamstress, gardener, and household manager. Dawn plays bass and sings with the Bluegrass Blondies. She enjoys sewing, scrapbooking, crocheting, and purse making. Dawn is an avid race fan and enjoys attending NASCAR races when possible – even if she is a Dale Earnheardt Jr. fan. ;o) Dawn is active in the church, teaching Sunday school, VBS, cooking at various Bible Camps, sewing care bags for missions, and many other duties of a elder's wife. Bluegrass inspirations – The Isaacs,  New Found Road, Barry Scott & Second Wind and Rhonda Vincent. Country/Christian inspirations -  Rasccal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Brad Paisley, Casting Crowns, and Mercy Me.  Favorite places: Gatlinburg, TN; Silver Dollar City/Branson, MO; Bristol, TN; Rocky Mountain National Park. Bass of choice: Englehart ¾ upright bass. Dawn endorses Johnson&Johnson paper tape for blistered fingers.

 

Taylor Amos --  Taylor Amos is 20. Taylor plays guitar, bass; sings lead, alto, soprano, high baritone.  She enjoyed singing in school with the Meistersingers and attending state vocal competitions.  In 2008, Taylor won her junior high talent contest playing guitar and singing a bluegrass song. She is interested in becoming a veterinarian after a few years of college. Hobbies include playing church league volleyball, softball, swimming, drawing, horses, and anything arts/crafts. Bluegrass inspirations: Kenny and Amanda Smith, Allison Krauss and Union Station, The Isaacs, The Next Best Thing, Dailey&Vincent, The Harper’s, The Punches Family, and The Bankester Family. Country inspirations:  Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, and Carrie Underwood. Favorite places: Gatlinburg, TN; Silver Dollar City/Branson, MO; Backbone State Park/Strawberry Point, IA. Bethany Amos --  Bethany Amos is 17, currently a senior at Ottumwa High School, plays mandolin, fiddle, dobro, guitar, and piano. Bethany sings lead, soprano, and high baritone.  She also enjoys singing in school. Bethany is interested in becoming a geometry teacher. Hobbies include playing church league volleyball, raising chickens, wood burning, fishing, driving, and anything art/craft oriented. She loves Orca whales, but admits that our pond is not suitable to keep one! Bluegrass inspirations – The Isaacs, Alecia Nugent, Rhonda Vincent, Dailey&Vincent, The Harper’s, The Punches Family, and The Bankester Family. Country inspirations -  Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley. Favorite places: Gatlinburg, TN; Silver Dollar City/Branson, MO; Orlando, FL. Mandolin  of choice: Flat Iron F-35. Hallie Amos --  Hallie Amos is 13 years old, currently in 8th grade at Evans Middle School, plays fiddle, guitar and drums. Sings lead, alto, baritone. Won her school’s talent show in 1st grade. Hobbies include raising sheep, raising cats, swimming, and volleyball. Bluegrass inspirations – The Isaacs, Allison Krauss and Union Station, Dailey&Vincent, The Harper Family, The Punches Family,  and Rhonda Vincent. Country inspirations -  Reba McIntire (huge fan), Scott McCreery, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley. Favorite places: Gatlinburg, TN; Silver Dollar City/Branson, MO; Chicago, IL. Fiddle of choice: Jackson Guldane w / La Salle Carbon Fiber bow.
